Our client is looking for someone who is familiar / skilled in hydrology (drainage) of ground water and surface water with experience in Arbitration and/or Dispute resolution. In particular, someone who would understand how a change in topography would affect the drainage of surface water.
Kick-off will be as soon as possible to finalise one of the claims. Likely timeline is that they will need the expert for an initial period of around 4 to 6 months to help them finalise the claim and then will go in accordance with timetable to be established down the line. The person can work from home. Sometimes experts travel but it is not often.
This is for a rail project. The issue they have is that when designing the rail road, the client assumed a specific design of topography (hills/valleys) and designed the drainage system accordingly. A subcontractor had since changed the topography (by over/under excavating). This, in turn, changed the impact on the drainage for the railway. Because of this, our client will be required to either re-design/re-build various parts of the railway. We are looking for an expert that can opine on how changes in topography will affect drainage.
