Our client is seeking ETCS Rollingstock Subject Matter Expert(s) to provide targeted specialist advice in radio frequency engineering, ETCS Baseline 4 onboard functionality and ATO Baseline 4 onboard functionality. The SMEs supplement the core advisory team during selected requirements, design, supplier development, testing, fault investigation, assurance and acceptance activities. Services will be called upon by the client on an ad hoc basis, with the actual discipline mix, timing and effort determined according to project need.

Initial Contract term: 3 years Extension options: up to 12 months

Core scope for this role will include, but will not be limited to:
- Provide independent, specialist advice within the nominated discipline and clearly identify assumptions, dependencies, limitations and material risks.
- Review requirements, architecture, interface specifications, supplier designs, software release information, test strategies, test results, defects, concessions and assurance evidence.
- Participate in targeted design reviews, technical workshops, hazard reviews, test readiness reviews, fault investigations and acceptance reviews.
- Prepare concise technical notes, review comments, options assessments and recommendations suitable for the client's decision-making and supplier direction.
- Support technical evaluation of supplier proposals, departures, clarifications and proposed solutions within the relevant specialist field.
- Advise on interoperability, compatibility, migration, backward compatibility, configuration and regression impacts associated with onboard baseline and radio changes.
- For RF engineering assignments, advise on onboard radio architecture, antenna and feeder arrangements, coverage and performance, interference, EMC, coexistence, measurement and test evidence.
- For ETCS Baseline 4 assignments, advise on onboard functionality, interfaces, software and data configuration, migration, testing, defects and compatibility with the State's trackside and laboratory environments.
- For ATO Baseline 4 assignments, advise on onboard ATO functionality, ETCS/ATO interfaces, operational concepts, data exchange, mode transitions, testing and integration dependencies.
- Support State Lab and train testing, including test case review, anomaly analysis, defect triage, root-cause investigation and assessment of corrective action.
- Transfer knowledge to the client and the core advisory team through briefings, documented advice and review records.
- Remain available within agreed notice periods and manage assignments efficiently within client-approved scope and hours.
