Our client is seeing a Purchasing Director APAC to support their activities in Asia. This role can be based in Malaysia, Thailand or Indonesia and candidates must be fluent in Chinese. 

Key Responsibilities:
- Define and secure the implementation of the global purchasing strategies within the BU in accordance with the global category strategies including the development of a world class supplier base
- Guarantee that group purchasing methods, rules, processes and tools are deployed according to the client's Purchasing Excellence Program principles
- Guarantee Purchasing performance for the BU (QCD, saving targets, working capital, Sustainability) and the competitiveness of the client's overall results through the monitoring of VCP and global reservoir
- Challenge the client's way of doing and organization to ensure that the above is met in particular for the make-or-buy decision and supplier management cost
- Guarantee highest standards of Compliance for himself and the team
- Scope of work covers 6 industrial site (China, Indonesia, India, Australia).
- Main commodities are Steel, Resins, Castings, plastic injection, rubber and other mechanical parts.
- Support global sourcing from Asia to the other BUs (External purchase and Interco)

 
Job Requirements

 

Education / Training
University Degree in Business or Finance, MBA Purchasing certification preferred
Related experience in Purchasing in various positions (Commodities, project, supplier management) with proven results
Previous successful experience leading a team of buyers
- Experience in industrial environment: Technical Manufacturing Engineering experience. Able to audit suppliers capabilities and source new suppliers
- Sustainability: Sustainability support - especially in Scope 3 - and the impacts purchasing strategy and supplier can have on scope 1 (CAPEX SUPPORT) & 2 (Direct Energy) - lead the reporting as part of Procurement function
- Working experience in cross-functional teams
- International mind set, experience in an overseas environment preferred
- Change management is a plus

Professional Experience:
- 10 years Procurement experience - preferably with experience in sourcing direct and indirect material in an international environment. However, this requirement is flexible if the candidate can demonstrate the skills and experience needed.
