Our client is responsible for the operation and mainttenance of the MRT3 in Manila and is looking for an experienced signal engineer to advise on options to replace or upgrade the existing signalling system which was installed in 1999.

The MRT-3 uses the Alstom CITYFLO 250 fixed block signaling system. This system was originally supplied by Bombardier Transportation (which was acquired by Alstom in 2021) and was upgraded and maintained as part of a major rehabilitation project by a Japanese consortium.

The old copper wires were replaced with new fiber optic cables to improve communication reliability within the signalling system and Outdated tuning units, which are crucial parts of the track circuits that detect train presence, have been systematically replaced across all stations to ensure accurate train detection.
