Our client is seeking a Compliance Safety Specialist to work in the Freight area. Candidates must have strong railway operational background and be responsible for updating railway standards.
 
Principal Accountabilities:
This position involves all duties and responsibilities associated with securing ongoing SAR compliance with statutory organizations licensing and safety certification and internal compliance management.
- Conduct periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed.
- Conduct or direct the internal investigation of compliance issues.
- Assess product, compliance, or operational risks and develop risk management strategies
- Conduct environmental audits to ensure adherence to environmental standards.
- Identify compliance issues that require follow-up or investigation.
- Disseminate written policies and procedures related to compliance activities
- Develop and File appropriate compliance reports with regulatory agencies
- Maintain documentation of compliance activities, such as complaints received or investigation outcomes.
- Discuss emerging compliance issues with management or employees
- Collaborate with human resources departments to ensure the implementation of consistent disciplinary action strategies in cases of compliance standard violations.
- Provide employee training on compliance related topics, policies, or procedures
- Keep informed regarding pending industry changes, trends, and best practices and assess the potential impact of these changes on organizational processes
- Verify that all firm and regulatory policies and procedures have been documented, implemented, and communicated
- Review or modify policies or operating guidelines to comply with changes to standards or regulations

 
Job Requirements

 

Essential requirements:
- Passion, drive & commitment.
- Good networking capabilities, with an ability to develop close ties with regulatory bodies
- Proven record in compliance management.  
- High level of communication and presentation skills.  
- The ability to prepare a Safety certification and license documentation   
- Competent author of business letters and reports.
- Ambitious, self-motivated, hardworking, and results orientated, problem solver with a positive outlook and a clear focus on driving compliance.
- A team player with clear leadership qualities.
 
Qualifications:
- A degree, preferably in a related field, (Compliance or safety management)
- Strong interpersonal skills
- 5+ years in a compliance managerial role to include demonstrated leadership. Familiarity with operational, financial, quality assurance, and human resource procedures and regulations is a must.
