Our client is bidding for work on the Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project (Line-5): Southern Route and they are seeking suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the role of Chief Resident Engineer (CRE) Civil.

 

Main Tasks & Duties:

- Assist the TL in coordinating to review and approve the Contractor(s)' working drawings, shop drawings and drawings for temporary works. Also, review and approve in consultation with the Client, if any, design prepared by the Contractor(s) for any part of the permanent works;

- Coordinate with the Interface Management Lead Specialist among the Contractors to establish the design criteria for interfacing and integrating/harmonising;

- Managing project implementation in terms of the schedule, budgeting/financing, communication/ coordination among the related Parties, etc., including monitoring from time to time, while conducting risk management such as managing the Project Risk Register, developing a contingency Plan, taking the role in minimising risks, etc. together with acting as a trainer for the training of a project management system for this mass rapid transit construction project;

- Establish overall implementation programs for construction, manufacturing, installation, testing, and commissioning of the various elements of the Project to identify interfacing and relationships among individual work elements included in all Contracts and clarify critical paths. Update such a program to be consistent with the programs of each Contract. Monitor the progress of work on the Project and report it to the Client via the TL;

- Establish project communication and a coordination plan, which defines a mechanism for interaction among the Client, Consultants, Contractors, Suppliers, Operators/Maintainers and related Agencies;

- Establish an overall Project Implementation Management System consisting of the Project programming and monitoring system to assure that the Project will be delivered within scope, quality, time, budget, functionally performed, and reliability as planned by utilising project management software, Primavera Project Planning Program, which is the same as the one to be applied by the Contractor(s);

- Establish and compile a Project Risk Register based on the entire Construction Risk Register by the Contractors. They will update and maintain the register regularly. He will also assist the Client in compiling and preserving its Business Risk Register based on the regularly updated Project Risk Register;

- Develop a Project Contingency Plan that contains all the necessary steps, systems, and procedures to be followed by all the Parties involved in the Project when a significant event disrupts the works. This will ensure the project can be resumed immediately and the risk exposure status is regularly avoided;

- Inspect and monitor the implementation of the training provided by the Contractor(s), as such proceeds, to confirm that it complies with the requirements of the relevant Contracts;

- Reviewing/Approving submissions, intervening/recommending corrective actions or liaising with appropriate colleagues;

- The Chief Resident Engineer (Civil) shall take the lead in managing and coordinating the design specialists/engineers responsible for developing new designs or modifying existing designs, specifically within the scope of clause for civil work packages;

- Inspect, monitor and ensure overall construction safety of all civil packages and

- Any other civil-related works given by the TL.
